Our Story

After 5 years in the industry our Managing Director, Lee Whorton founded Omnis Highway Solutions at the age of 21.

Lee saw potential for a company which would become the most  recognised in the industry for its safety standards and high-end quality of service - offering 1 point of contact to all their clients.

The Latin word ‘Omni’ meaning ‘all’ inspired Lee to name the company Omnis. This fitted with the goal and vision he had to manage all aspects of traffic management.

For the first year, Lee worked from his spare bedroom at his house, and began implementing a localisation strategy. The very first Omnis yard was opened in London; a small yard found on Gumtree!

For the first year of business, Lee covered it all - from sourcing clients and setting up business systems, to drawing CAD plans and installing traffic management.

Lee’s hard work within the first year of Omnis set the precedent for the business, and the standards we continue to uphold.

In 2017 we moved into our first official office and our operational team expanded, meaning the business could operate on a much larger scale.

We moved to a larger yard in London, 3 major clients came on board and our turnover grew +88% vs 2016!

We also started to work with huge events, such as the London Marathon!

2018 saw huge growth for Omnis.

We further expanded in the UK and opened a new yard in Wellingborough, hiring more operatives, our office team also grew by two people and our SHEQ team was formed.

We gained 3 HSEQ accreditations and we implemented a new mission to improve safety, wellbeing and environmental impacts within the business.

The growth of the team resulted in a 94% increase on 2017!

In 2019, Our Commercial Director - Tim Mooring, joined the business.

Tim had worked with Lee previously and had 6 years experience within sales for Traffic Management.

Tim brought a wealth of experience and respect within the industry, securing over 10 major clients in 2019, including multiple nationwide telecoms contracts - working alongside some of the biggest network

providers.

The new work meant our team had to grow too, and our current Head Office was no longer big enough.

We moved into our new Scunthorpe office and welcomed a Projects team on board.

We hired 6 more operatives, located across the UK and saw an incredible +146% growth compared to 2018!

In 2020 our team grew by a further 18 people, with our Operations team having the biggest increase with 15 operatives joining us!

We sourced larger yards, opening our new London and Northampton depot.

We also achieved NHSS 12D certification.

Despite a difficult year during a global pandemic, with furlough  and isolation affecting businesses all over the globe - Omnis still achieved an 88% growth vs 2019!

In 2021 our team grew exponentially this year, with 7 new members - expanding our Accounts, SHEQ, Operations and Planning departments.

We also employed a further 12 operatives and we saw a growth of +72% vs 2020.

We focused on the development of our team this year, with our office and operatives attending over 130 training courses!

We purchased 13 new vans to renew and extend our fleet, and we completed more than 7500 jobs throughout the year.

Following the major success of Omnis in the past 5 years, we encouraged our team to give their feedback on the business, this proved extremely insightful and enabled us to reassess our visions and goals for Omnis’ future.

We restructured, creating new departments in line with the companies requirements following our growth & collaboratively agreed on our aims for the business going forward.

At the end of January we celebrated our busiest ever day, with 56 operatives out on jobs across the UK!
